Christmas Coffee – A Baileys Latte

December 8, 2015 by Laura Scott 12 Comments

Sometimes I enjoy a mulled wine to kick start the festive season. Sometimes I enjoy a warming hot brandy chocolate with my mince pie.  Amaretto on ice isn’t to be sniffed at, nor is the classic Irish coffee. All that luxurious double cream sitting on top of brown sugar sweetened Irish whiskey laced coffee. Oh how I love Christmas cocktails.

My new favourite, discovered on thebar, is the Baileys latte – a perfect Christmas coffee. I have always had a soft spot for Baileys, have you? If so, you might like to check out these Christmas cocktails and New Year drinks. Baileys is a drink I have enjoyed for many years but only ever at Christmas. A little liqueur to finish off a winter warming meal sits so well with me at this time of the year.

I like to keep a bottle of Baileys to hand for toasting the season of goodwill. It does seem to find it’s way into my desserts as well as being enjoyed over ice sitting beside a glowing fire. I have used Baileys in ice creams, trifles, tiramisu and my ever popular loaded Christmas cheescake which I will be posting soon.

There is something so indulgent about a Baileys latte. If you are a coffee lover like me, this should be the way you finish off your meal for the next few weeks. A good shot or two of espresso blends beautifully with a whiskey and Irish cream liqueur, warm frothy milk and dark chocolate shavings.

If you would like a little more cocktail inspiration then why not head on over to some of the recipes below. Fill up your drinks cabinet in preparation for Christmas guests and welcome them with a cocktail or two:

Guava ginger zinger – Recipes from a pantry

Baileys hot chocolate shots – Mostly about chocolate

Baileys & Amaretto hot tails – The Londoner

Baileys Chocolatini – House of blog

Baileys pumpkin spice latte – Veggie Desserts

This is a sponsored post in association with Diageo’s “thebar”. If you are looking for Christmas and New Year cocktail inspiration then head on over to see what’s on offer at thebar. There is a range of cocktails on offer to suit all tastes, especially mine.

Please remember to drink responsibly (over 18s only) and eat before you drink to avoid the adverse effects of alcohol. For further advice visit Drinkaware.

Now THIS is how I’d like to start (and finish!!) my Christmas day ;o) Baileys is fabulous in hot drinks – I had a Baileys hot chocolate at a Christmas fair once and was grinning like a Cheshire cat 😉
