I have been experimenting recently with winter smoothies. As the weather turns chilly, I don’t find myself in the mood for slurping a cool fruity drink. So, I have remedied that by creating a spiced cranberry and clementine smoothie, made using my Froothie, flavoured with cinnamon and vanilla powders. The warmth of the spices blends perfectly with the frozen and the dried cranberries along with some freshly grated ginger and the zing of juicy clementines.
This is almost like a mulled wine smoothie. I could quite happily add a measure or two of vodka or a glass of red wine to it and enjoy it as an evening cocktail. An alcoholic drink that is good for you, almost.
I am linking my smoothie to Simple an in Season (Ren Behan), Family Foodies (Eat your Veg & Bangers & Mash) and Fresh Cranberry Recipe Link Up at Blue Kitchen Bakes.

Such a gorgeous colour. I have a real aversion to super sweet smoothies so this sounds lovely with the tartness of the cranberries.
Thanks Hannah, that’s what I love too. The sharpness of fruits like cranberries works so well in drinks and cakes and they look so colourful!
Love this seasonal, vitamin packed and flu-repelling winter smoothie. I do like something nippy in my smoothies and juices and cranberries are a jolly choice. The spices make it almost dessert-like – yum! Today I put frozen brambles in with an unsweetened juice – zing!
Yes, it’s true Kellie, I like enjoying this with a spoon as it’s lovely and thick. The spices make it very warming and it smells amazing!
I love fresh cranberries though I’ve never used them in a smoothie before, definitely one I need to try and it’s a beautiful colour.
I’m hosting a fresh cranberry recipe link up on my blog this month if you’d like to join in with this recipe 🙂
Thanks Jen, will do!
Brrrr, it’s too cold for smoothies indeed. Just had a nutty thought. What if you kept on whizzing the drink in the Froothie. After a while at its top setting it will heat up the contents. Hmmm, warm fruity drink?
Oh yes! Pour in the red wine then heat it all to become a fruity mulled wine, brilliant!
I enjoy recipes that feel like they are dessert or a naughty treat but are actually vitamin packed, I always feel extra pleased and so I am totally making this pretty smoothie. YUM x
That’s true Deena, cranberries are packed full of goodness and I love their sharpness 🙂
What a stunning smoothie… such pretty colours and the flavours sound really lively and energising!
It is refreshing Katie and not too sweet, perfect antidote to all the chocolate and mince pies!
I’ve just bought a packet of cranberries so will be throwing some in a smoothie – not tried them this way!
the colour looks fabulous!
I think I will be using cranberries much more now Nazima, I have realised they are versatile and not just for serving in a sauce with turkey!
Wow this looks stunning and love the sound of those mulled wine flavours. A lovely entry for December’s #FamilyFoodies challenge. Thanks so much for linking up 🙂
Thanks Vanesther 🙂
Very festive – looks delicious Laura.
