How has January been going for you? It is a tough month of the year, as is February. January seems to be encouraging more and more people to give up alcohol and start a new eating regime. We all know by now that fad diets don’t work. What does work is changing your eating habits, being more active, taking on board a healthier lifestyle without depriving yourself of the food you enjoy. Everything in moderation is key, I always think.
This is the approach taken by food blogger and now cookery book author Dannii Martin. She has written her first cook book “Hungry Healthy Happy”, published by Jacqui Small. The book is named after her successful food blog which charts Dannii’s personal success story with losing weight, maintaining her weight and eating tasty, feel good food that is not laden with calories.
I am also delighted to say I will be giving away a copy of Dannii’s book (see bottom of this post), so you will be in with a chance of trying out all of the recipes I have mentioned plus many more, for yourself!

Over the last couple of weeks I have been trying out dishes from Dannii’s book and they have been demolished by my family. The spicy lentil tacos were so good that I am sharing the recipe with you here, allowing you to try them for yourself. Two other firm favourites were the Pad Thai and the Breakfast Burritos.
What I have enjoyed most about the book so far is just how easy the instructions for the recipes are. Also, the ingredients are easy to find, the recipes aren’t complex or daunting, so you can make the dishes in next to no time. Each recipe comes with a nutritional guide and vibrant photos which always help to visualise the end results. Next on my list to make are the raw carrot bites, the chocolate avocado mouse AND the quinoa bean burgers. I will serve the burgers with Dannii’s avocado hummus and maybe a splash of her salsa.
Dannii’s ethos is ” How to nourish your body without giving up the food you love”.
I have a copy of the Hungry Healthy Happy cook book to giveaway (see below), but before we get talking about how to win Dannii’s book, here is Dannii’s introduction to what the book is about…
” In this book Dannii Martin shows us, with a few small changes, we can enjoy all of our favourite foods, whilst still nourishing our bodies with a delicious, healthy and nutritionally balanced diet. Featuring over 100 recipes, from protein packed breakfasts to hearty main courses and desserts, there are dishes for every appetite and occasion; including everything from light, summery salads through to takeaway favourites such as burgers, kebabs and curries. Dannii’s recipes allow us to discover our love for all of our favour foods, reinvented as more nutritious and wholesome versions of themselves, without ever having to worry about what we’re putting into our bodies”.
