Happy New Year & One Ingredient for January

I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year.  What an incredible year 2012 was and I can only hope that 2013 doesn’t pale into insignificance after such an exciting, celebratory year of achievements.

The first One Ingredient challenge of 2013 is now upon us and I would like to introduce to you

THE ORANGE

It is that time of year when seasonal produce is not quite as abundant as it was back in the Autumn but oranges are a perfect  choice because I am hoping that it might encourage some of you to have a go at maing some Seville orange marmalade. I include myself in this challenge. After having many successful attempts at jam making last year, I now feel the need to perfect the art of making marmalade.

Oranges, just like other citrus fruits make wonderful curds,  flavoured sponges, marinades, sauces and sherbets. Orange also happens to be my favourite colour and I think it is a perfect antidote to the grey, dull skies we tend to suffer from at this time of the year.

So how about a cheery, bright, colourful, juicy orange recipe to welcome in the New Year. I am hoping to  get some inspiration while in France, enjoying some Alpine snow and skiing but I will also be hunting out those Seville oranges as soon as I get home.

Remember that both myself and Nazima at Franglais Kitchen will retweet any tweets that include the #oneingredient hashtag.  Please enter the competition using the inlinkz widget below.

Happy New Year!!
